EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Many wounded during their service find their dreams and plans suddenly shattered. Supporting and assisting them in finding a new direction has become the highest priority in their rehabilitation process. For many war-disabled individuals, developing their academic skills and supporting them during their studies will enable them to obtain an education and provide them with the necessary tools to regain confidence and belief in their ability to face the challenge of a new life.

It is important to emphasise that some scholarship applications we receive are for diploma studies and professional courses. Many members find it difficult to persevere in demanding studies, mainly due to their disability. Our goal is to help them find a profession. Additionally, some members need to improve their grades to be accepted into university, and they are taking pre-academic preparatory courses. We grant scholarships for these courses as well.

Applications for every scholarship, including pre-academic preparatory courses, vocational training, and Creative Arts and Culture scholarships, are sent to the Scholarship Committee once a year for each completed academic year. The application should include necessary details about the studies, approval of the institution, admission for tuition fees, a statement by the veteran, etc. Meeting these criteria entitles them to a scholarship.

The scholarship is rewarded for a year of study, retroactively. We do not fund a complete degree ahead – the application should be sent each year by the veteran. The budget for the scholarship project is raised from private donors, global Friends Organisations, and foundations.

In 2024, 745 scholarships were distributed, totaling USD $830,000 to our disabled veteran.

Each scholarship recipient receives the donor’s name and any further information the donor wishes to provide, and they send a personal thank you letter to the donor. The donor receives the full details of the scholarship recipient (name of the university, faculty, school/college, which year, and the amount given)

Donors are invited to attend the scholarship distribution ceremony and to personally hand out their donated scholarships to the recipients.
