Eden Ram was stationed in the Urim base raided on October 7th. As Eden raced to the command centre, bullets hit her leg, hand and pelvis. Eden “played dead” as she lay wounded and losing blood among her friends’ bodies. Eden sent farewell messages to her family.
Several hours later, Eden was rescued by Battalion 669 and evacuated with the base’s only other survivor. Pierced by twelve bullets, she arrived in hospital in critical condition. Eden was on life support for nine days and in a wheelchair for two months during a three month stay in hospital where she was visited regularly by Beit Halochem volunteers.
Eden goes to Beit Halochem Jerusalem daily, working with physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Beit Halochem specialist staff are helping Eden to rehabilitate despite one bullet still lodged in her hip.
Eden says that Beit Halochem Jerusalem is “like my second home. There I don’t have to feel shame about my injuries or scars. There are people who understand me there”.
